Not too long ago I found myself enjoying my cozy sleep. The room was dark and my eyes were closed. Then, all of a sudden, a beam of morning light made its way through my window and hit my eyelid.
It was unexpected how quickly that one small beam of light could pierce the darkness. It was a glorious reminder of the power light has to scatter darkness even through the smallest crack. It seemed odd that this little beam of light changed the room and released a bit of warmth as it fell across my face.
The morning light was powerful. In one moment, as light found its way through the shutters of my bedroom, my room transformed and the day had dawned!
We sometimes think the darkness has a way of holding on. It seems thick and the magnitude of it blinds us from being able to see. Yet, no darkness on this earth is able to resist the light of the sun…or maybe it can be said, “No darkness can resist the glorious light of the Son.”
In our lives, we can feel like we are surrounded by the darkness of night. Different circumstances can seem as if they are strong and can hold back the light of God. But, nothing can hold back His light. In a moment, His glorious light finds its way through the small crack in the shutters and pierces the darkness. Morning breaks, we recognize the warmth of His presence and discover how the darkness gives way to His morning glory.
