I was just listening to my husbands sermon from Sunday about the body of Christ and I started to think about the “go” and “stay” tension that we are wrestling with in TWC as well as the difficulty that other communities have had in doing this in a truly healthy, relationally-based way. Brandon and I have had “sending churches” and “supporting churches” in our journey that we would touch base with once or twice as year but were in reality, left on our own (to church plant far away from any supporting communities). As I was letting these thoughts float around, the Holy Spirit stopped my thoughts and said “you (TWC) have already been set up (by me) for this (to be done in a different, healthy, relationally-based way.” As I let this sink in I realized that we already do this by instinct and the structure needed for this is already a part of our organism. As Kathy shared today, our CA are already exploring what it is to be sent by instinct – some within TWC (like all the coaches and call facilitators and Intel folk), and we already have people (like Meagan 🙂 ) who are fully operating in their commission outside of TWC. The difficulty with the current model of “sending” is the lack of relationship and communication that occurs due to geographical distance. Our relationships do not rely on geographical locations (I have been commissioned to 4-5 different geographical locations and to at 7-10 different church communities with various roles during the time I have been with TWC, and while my relationships with the people from those other locations and communities has fluctuated (and some completely ended) during that time due to seasons and geography, my relationships with TWC have never stopped deepening and growing. I feel like the Holy Spirit was showing me that that uncharted territory is actually under our feet. He has given us all the dots we need. Now we get to examine what we have been doing by instinct and discover how to build intentionality with it. :). YAHOO!!
