How many times have you tried to change something?  Ok, let me put it this way…how’s that New Year’s Resolution holding out?

The reality is that change can be very difficult.  Changing habits formed long ago can be quite the challenge.  But, never fear…change this way comes!

What’s been fun is that time in The Warrior Commission (TWC) has shown how much we have learned about transformation over the years. The best news? True transformation comes when we stop trying to force a shift. Striving often creates a temporary fix that becomes a cycle of frustration.

To see lasting change, we open our hearts to how our mindsets and the way we see things have shifted. Learning a different way of seeing something, like new understanding of how Jesus might see it, can bring a huge and quick transformation.  Or, change may come through a slow and steady progression…

In TWC, we like to borrow a quote from Graham Cooke that explains it well. “It’s the process that makes us rich.”

Our community Facebook (private) pages contain story after story of how these evidences of transformation have shown up in the lives of our warrior community. Recognizing the negative tape we used to hear daily has stopped or discovering we have responded to a crises out of a place of peace are two areas of change often shared. Some of these stories are shared in our blog on our website www.twclass.org.

The training we experience and the resources we use are “tools” to help us discover deeper ways to connect to God’s heart. After all, He is the author of our transformation, but we chose to partner with Him in the process.

Romans 12:2 states: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (NLV)

What we have found is that lasting transformation comes because we learn to align with God’s heart for us. We begin to see ourselves through His perspective and recognize His truth in our lives. The lies, performance and false identities we’ve accepted are released.

Our warrior mindsets come into play because we realize true identity and deeper intimacy with the Godhead are worth the fight. Embracing the commission of spreading His glory to the ends of the earth is not for the faint of heart. It requires the stance and heart of a warrior: resolved, resilient and intentional. But, calling ourselves warriors is not enough.

We must also embrace the process of transformation as we learn God’s heart for each of us. We know those changes have taken place because we see the evidence of those transformations in our everyday lives.
