We learn to take advantage of our challenging circumstances. We recognize, no matter what we face, we can find heavenly treasure through it. Sometimes that treasure is a stronger identity or a better understanding of the grace of God. Other times, the treasure we find is how to turn a negative situation into an opportunity for a fruit fight.
What’s a fruit fight? It’s a choice to grab the fruits of the Spirit and go to battle against negativity. Time and again…too many times to count, I have learned to step back and choose what fruit I use to counter negativity around me. Whether those challenges have come through people’s attitudes, words, actions, etc., I have the choice of how I respond. Hmmmm…will I fight with joy? peace? love?
Then, once my choice is made, I look for the place God has set aside for me with that choice. That place is always filled with the fruit of the Spirit. Suddenly, I am in a place of peace, rest, comfort, encouragement, etc. Truth? The very thing that challenged me fades away and loses its power to affect my attitude or confidence.
Learning to stay in that place of peace and rest means I can respond out of His heart toward others. That peaceful place allows me to align with His heart so I am not worked up and reactionary to the things and people around me. I am able to connect with His great love for myself and for others.
The fruit of the Spirit abound. They are on offer at all times to those who believe in Christ. Sometimes we allow our experiences to put a wall up between us and those glorious fruits. But, they are our weapons! Learning to move into that special place God has for me in each situation, helps me have the best fruit fight and turn each negative situation into an opportunity of love expressed.
