We face choices every day to compromise our integrity, identity and faith in this life. Living Kingdom to earth takes courage. Choosing to run with God rather than the crowd requires a daily steadfast commitment. We bravely face what lies ahead as we find the courage to run.

Courageous people still face fear. They see the challenge ahead and fear is often one of the first things that rises up: fear of not being capable, fear of not being accepted, fear of failure. Yet, the most courageous people have embraced courage and chosen not to let fear hold them captive.

Encourage means “to place courage in.” God continually places courage in us through scripture, prayer and through others. It’s in learning to be in, and with Him, on the journey of life we discover how to tap into the courage He continually brings.

In The Warrior Commission, we often delightfully encourage our warriors to “get their brave on.”  This is a commitment for us to be that wind beneath their wings as they choose to soar with God and not to be held captive by fear. This bravery is different for each person. For some, it is about sharing their heart. Others may need to be brave as they step more fully into their identity or commission. It doesn’t matter the perception of how “big” or “small” the need for courage is, we understand that to that person, the courage needed is always the same as a big, brave, “yes!”

The courageous warrior chooses not to be defined by their fear, but by their choice to say, “Yes,” to what is on hand. The “yeses” add up. Just like a runner, each yes, builds in speed and creates the endurance needed to run well. Each courageous choice builds what is needed to continually have the courage to run.

Joshua 1:9  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
